The joys of Christmas

Everyone knows the poinsettia flower. Its beautiful flowers decorate many rooms. At home, you can enjoy the classic red flowers, but there are also orange, pink, and white shiny varieties. Once you purchase a poinsettia, wrap it carefully to bring it home and protect it from the cold as much as possible. Even inside the house, they need to be protected from the cold. They need to be watered regularly to maintain adequate humidity. Another lesser-known plant named Christmas is the Christmas cactus, which thrives at temperatures as low as around 15°C (59°F) and needs to be kept in a well-lit area. It grows well in warmer temperatures during spring and summer, but requires more frequent watering; after August, watering should be reduced and the plant should be allowed to flower. After August, watering should be increased again during the flowering period.Vánoční hvězda.jpg

Potatoes come in a variety of colors and flower shapes. In the fall and spring, purple, red, pink, and white potato seedlings can be seen. For proper growth, however, temperatures below 18°C (64°F) and adequate light are necessary. The soil must not be allowed to dry out and must be well watered.Větvička orchideje.jpg

Their small, colorful flowers brighten any home. Whether pure white, pink, purple, or fringed, houseplant lovers swear they are gems. But taking care of them can be a challenge. To grow orchids, choose a heated room. Choose a bright spot near a window, preferably facing east or south. It should not be placed where cold air flows, so be careful not to place it near a leaky window or a door that is often opened. The bottom bed should be well ventilated and watered regularly with a mist. It is a good idea to soak the entire pot in water once a week.
