If you are choosing a high school for your child, you should know that schools fall into several categories. The categories determine the difficulty level of the major.

For example, if you have a child with special needs, you should know that you will need to choose a course called “Special Education”. Secondary education courses are divided into the following categories.

  • K – This category informs you that these are grammar schools. Gymnasiums are schools where general education is continued and serve as preparation for university studies.14]
  • M – This category refers to traditional secondary schools such as technical and vocational secondary schools. This includes lycées that, like grammar schools, are primarily university preparatory, but these are already specialized in a particular field (construction, engineering, chemistry). Compared to technical schools, students have more hands-on training, but at the same time must fulfill high school requirements. It is unfortunate that there are not many such courses, since they combine vocational and on-the-job training.
  • H – Here one can find traditional apprenticeship courses with apprenticeship certificates. It is unfortunate because interest in these fields has declined in recent years, but the need for crafts in general is high.
  • E – This is a simpler apprenticeship with apprenticeship certificate. It is primarily aimed at children with disabilities who have low learning ability and need a special educational approach. Efforts are currently underway to integrate graduates of these courses into the labor market.
  • D – These courses, which are currently not numerous, are three-year courses that end with a final exam certificate
  • J – These are two-year courses and are intended for students who are not willing to learn (usually do not want to learn), but should have at least some education.
  • C – a course for students with severe disabilities, the simplest category of secondary education. It is actually one or two years of practical schooling. A certificate of completion is issued.
